A car belonging to Linda Bergeon caught fire and burned shortly after she started it Wednesday morning, March 3.

The older model Pontiac Bonneville was engulfed in flames when the Hudson Fire Department arrived at Bergeon’s residence at 703 ½ S. 13th St. at about 8 a.m.

The fire destroyed the vehicle.

Bergeon told a fire investigator that she had started her car and then exited the vehicle to scrape the windshield.

When she got back inside, she smelled something burning. Then smoke came out from under the dashboard, followed by flames.

Bergeon reportedly said she threw water on the flames, and when that failed to put out the fire, used her cell phone to call 911.
