Gladys Irene Peterson, 84, died March 11, 2010, in Soldier’s Grove, Wis. Gladys was from Eastman, Wis., and the mother of Hudson residents Evy Nerbonne and Ruth Peterson.
Gladys was born June 2, 1925, near Prairie du Chien, Wis. She married William Peterson on August 8, 1947, and raised seven children on the family farms near Seneca, Wis.
She spent her career as a teacher at Lynxville and Seneca, Wis. She was an extremely active member of the Seneca Methodist Church. She was a 50+ year 4-H leader and a life-long Farm Bureau member.
Gladys enjoyed spending time with family in Hudson. She took numerous hot air balloon flights and was a valued committee member of the Hudson Hot Air Affair balloon rally. She was a supporter of the Hudson Relay for Life with her daughters, both cancer survivors.
She is survived by children, Evalyn (John) Nerbonne of Hudson, Evonne (Darwin) Jordan of Las Vegas, Nev., Ruth Peterson of Hudson, Shirley (Tim) Morgan of Austin, Minn., Leroy Peterson of Eastman, John (Meg) Peterson of Eastman, and Carol (Jay) Ganz of Fortville, Ind.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Dommersnaes-Bertram Family Funeral Home in Gays Mills, Wis. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Seneca Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services with burial at Dickson Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to the Gladys Peterson Memorial Scholarship Fund for graduating students at Seneca High School.
