Ronald George Hedman of Shafer, Minn., died far too young on Jan 26, 2010, of complications arising out of shoulder surgery at the Veteran's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
Ron was born on Jan. 9, 1954, in Duluth, Minn., and went into the U.S. Army after high school. He was stationed in Germany, where he fell in love with travel and throughout his life had many adventures to various places in Europe and around the United States. After the Army, Ron went on to school in New Richmond, Wis., to be a machinist and worked in St. Paul and Hudson. In 1981, he married Lisa Bader (Gilbert) of River Falls. They lived around the Burkhardt, Wis., area and then settled outside of River Falls for over 10 years until they were divorced in 1997.
Ron loved to do woodworking and being outdoors hiking, skiing and canoeing with friends. Perhaps his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his pets, and he was volunteering at the Humane Society in Minnesota prior to his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, and two sisters, who all knew him as "Rusty."
He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and his sweet cat, Elliot.
A private memorial was held at his niece's home in St. Paul and his ashes will be interred in Lindstrom, Minn.
