A sure sign of spring is the annual Willow River Elementary Music and Art Show.

The April 9 event will be the sixth year the talents of Willow River students will be featured alongside work of 50 adult artists from both the Hudson and metropolitan area.

This year’s theme is "Celebrate You and Me". Willow River Elementary Art Specialist, Jodi Youngman, has been educating each grade about different artists. Each child has created a self portrait in the style of that artist that will be hung in the show.

In addition, every classroom in school has been working on a class project that will be included in the silent auction. The silent auction will also include work from artists in our community and from the metropolitan area.

“This is a great opportunity to go home with some fabulous artwork for gifts or for your own enjoyment,” says event coordinator Genie Castro.

Musical entertainment will be provided during the show by Willow River students under the direction of Lindsey Andress. Any child interested in performing during the evening can contact Andress via email at andresle@hudson.k12.wi.us to sign up for a time slot.

Food and beverages will be served. The show is open to the public and runs from 5-9 p.m.

For general information about the show and artists submissions, call (715)338-6766 or email genie@astrocreative.net. The event is sponsored by the Willow River Parent Group.
