Winning imaginations: Hudson DI teams advance to state

The Hudson Middle School was the site of the St Croix Valley Regional Destination Imagination tournament on Saturday, March 27.

According to organizers, the Hudson area was well represented by their elementary, middle and high school teams. Of the 27 teams competing in five different challenges, Hudson teams had five first-place finishes, four second-place finishes and five third-place finishes.

Each of the five challenges has an elementary, a middle school and a high school division. Teams that take a first or second place in each level will advance to the state competition in Stevens Point held on April 17.

Several teams also won special recognition for their efforts.

Local teams that will advance to state competition include:

  • Simple Machines, Houlton Elementary, first place, also winners of the Spirit of DI Award.

  • Duct Tape Innovators, Hudson Middle School, first place.

  • Anything But Parker, Hudson Middle School, second place.

  • Polar Opposites, Hudson Prairie Elementary, first place, also winners of the DaVinci Award.

  • Amazing Grapes, second place.

  • Hudson High School, first place and Renaissance Award.

  • Willow Rockers, Willow River Elementary, first place and Spirit of DI Award.

  • Amy’s Angels, Hudson Middle school, second place.

  • Hudson Middle School, second place.

    Teams taking third place and other awards included:

  • Princesses of Peace, North Hudson and Hudson Prairie, the Renaissance Award.

  • DI Dudes, Willow River Elementary, third place.

  • Polar People, combined elementary schools, third place and a Spirit of DI Award.

  • Master Flippers, Hudson High school, third place.

  • Lectlem, Willow River Elementary, third place.

  • Awesome People (Squared), Hudson Middle School, third place.
