A new principal for Hudson High School was approved at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting.

Laura Love, currently the principal of Lodi High School, will replace Ed Lucas who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten told board members that during a visit to Lodi High School, Hudson administrators heard first-hand from teachers, support staff, students, a parent and a coach about Love’s leadership. “They praised her visibility—in classrooms, in the halls, in the lunchroom, at co-curricular and athletic events, and in the community.” She also read an endorsement from Hudson Mayor Dean Knudson who met Love during the interview process.

Love has been the principal at Lodi for eight years. Prior to that she served as the associate principal in Verona. She serves on the board of the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators and the High School Commission. She is president of the National Fellowship for the Improvement of Educational Leadership and is a frequent conference presenter.

Love and her husband have two children, a son attending UW-Madison, and a daughter who is a senior at Lodi High School. The family will move to the Hudson area this summer. Love will start work at HHS in July.

More details about Love will appear in next week’s Star Observer.
