Two face numerous charges in machete attack

Two men were charged in St. Croix county Court Thursday afternoon for a machete attack in the home of a Hudson couple Tuesday night.

Charged were Shane M. Johnson, 24, of Roberts, and Andrew A. Watson, 24, 805 Kelly Rd., Hudson.

Johnson was charged with nine counts, including six felony charges. Watson was charged with five counts, including two felony charges. The Johnson felony charges are: mayhem; aggravated battery intending great bodily harm; first degree reckless injury; two counts of strangulation and suffocation; and burglary, armed with a dangerous weapon. The three misdemeanors were for criminal trespassing to a dwelling, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

The Watson felony charges are burglary, armed with a dangerous weapon; and aggravated battery intending great bodily harm. His three misdemeanors were also for criminal trespassing to a dwelling, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

According to HPD Chief Marty Jensen, officers were called to the home at 1920 Brookstone Circle just after midnight Tuesday night. The residents, a 25-year-old woman and her 24-year-old boyfriend, had been attacked with a machete by two males who broke into the home.

One of the attackers was allegedly an ex-boyfriend of the female victim.

The suspects had fled the residence by the time police arrived Tuesday night but with information from the victims, police tracked down one of the suspects at his place of employment at 2339 Willis Miller Drive around 8 a.m. Wednesday and took him into custody.

The second suspect surrendered to St. Croix County deputies at his residence at 805 Kelly Road at 8:50 a.m.

The victim’s injuries are not life threatening.
