Willow River Elementary holds Mini-Relay For Life at school

Students at Willow River Elementary will get a lesson on cancer awareness the week of May 3 on with special activities including presentations and activities on safety, physical activity, nutrition and tobacco use.

Students at Willow River Elementary will get a lesson on cancer awareness the week of May 3 on with special activities including presentations and activities on safety, physical activity, nutrition and tobacco use. A Mini-Relay For Life Celebration will be held Friday, May 7, from 5-8 p.m. at the school. The event is open to the public. The students will present any money they raise to the annual Hudson Relay For Life, June 25-26 at Newton Field.

This year's relay theme is "A Community of Super Heroes…Fighting for a Common Cause." Adults and children are encouraged to dress as super heroes for a costume contest. Opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m. followed by a survivors’ lap. The luminaria ceremony is at 10 p.m. and closing ceremonies are at 9:30 a.m.
