Mike Soukup presented retiring principal Pat Hodges with a crab apple tree planted in her honor
Past president of the River Crest Elementary School’s Parent group, Mike Soukup, presented retiring principal Pat Hodges, standing to the right of Soukup, with a Prairie Fire crab apple tree planted in her honor in the first-graders’ garden. Monday staff and students of River Crest Elementary School gathered in the gymnasium to honor retiring principal Pat Hodges. She was presented with songs created in her honor by music specialist Megan Anders and books compiled by each grade with suggestions for her retirement time.
Each grade offered a different theme which included reading, travel, volunteering, buying, watch and should does.
These are some of the thoughts the students shared:
Thank you for ordering, making and building our school.Thank you for being kind and nice.Thank you for taking good care of us.Thank you for helping our teachers do their best.Thank you for letting us eat lunch with you.Thank you for caring about nature and keeping the earth healthy.Thank you for being a lunch lady.Thank you for letting us tape you to the wall.Thank you for bringing a goat to school and kissing it.Thank you for caring for our hopes and dreams.Thank you for being the best principal ever.Thank you for loving us.Also on Monday they dedicated a sledding hill as Hodge’s Hill and the parents club presented a tree.
