St Croix Valley Master Gardeners will hear how to save the seeds from this year's crops for next year's vegetables at their Thursday, Aug. 26, meeting.

Master Gardeners Jim and Deb Barron, who also belong to Seed Savers, will provide techniques and details of how to save tomato and other seeds from year to year. The Barrons start over 50 varieties of tomato plants each winter from saved seeds, as well as starting lettuce and other vegetables for sale at the River Falls Farmers Market in summer.

The Sept. 18 advanced Master Gardener training meeting to be held at the Pierce County Fairgrounds in Ellsworth and featuring English nurseryman Andrew Sankey, will also be discussed.

The meeting, held at the Unitarian Church on Hwy. 65 southeast of River Falls, is open to the public.
