Public safety and specialty emergency services personnel from across St. Croix County participated in a drill that simulated a tornado touchdown on the St. Croix River Tuesday, Aug. 10.

Approximately 100 participants representing emergency medical services, fire, dive and water rescue and high angle rope rescue were involved in the mass casualty incident that resulted in multiple patients being triaged from land-based and water locations.

Agencies participating included St. Croix EMS & Rescue, Hudson Fire Department, Hudson Police Department, St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department, Baldwin Area EMS and River Falls EMS.

Just a few hours after the drill was terminated due to lightning and severe weather approaching the Hudson area, many of the participants were called to Baldwin where an eerily similar water rescue situation developed after flash floods hit that city.
