The 10th annual Rustic Road 13 Pottery Event and Sale, featuring 14 ceramic artists, is scheduled Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18 and 19 at an historic homestead at 1148 Trout Brook Road.
Pottery is one of the oldest human art-forms and handmade pottery evokes a simpler time and incorporating it into daily life allows people to reconnect to the value and beauty of everyday objects.
Area potters at the event include Jan Bilek, Carl Erickson, Kirk Freeman, Michael Howland, Peter Jadoonath, Diane Mallu, Ernest Miller, Dick Morse, Dyann Myers, Beth Ryan, Lynnea Schwieters, Marjorie Wade and Scott Zeinert.
Potter and homestead owner Beth Ryan, said the event continues to be an inspirational and informative event for both returning and first-time visitors.
“From the art-filled barn and potter’s wheel and raku firing demonstrations throughout the weekend to strolls through the gardens and music in the air, visitors are able to explore this ancient craft through the eyes and hands of contemporary artists.”
Ten percent of all sales will be donated to Second Harvest Heartland, partner in the nation’s Food Bank Network.
