MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin prep football playoff brackets for Divisions 3-7 will be released this evening in ruling issued by court hearing a lawsuit against the WIAA.
Judge Kevin Martens granted a temporary injuction that which will allow the brackets for the football playoffs from Division 3 through Division 7 to be released. Divisions 1 and 2, where the dispute lies, will be delayed until Tuesday.
The ruling affects area prep football teams from Hudson to New Richmond in the first two divisions, who will now have to wait until tomorrow to find out who they will match-up with in Level 1 contests this weekend to Ellsworth, Somerset, St. Croix Central, Spring Valley, Elmwood and Alma/Pepin in Divisions 3-7, who will know in a matter of hours whom they will play and where they will play their Level 1 match-ups.
The court will resume its hearing on the case at 10 a.m. At issue is whether the Shorewood/Milwaukee Messmer football co-op is eligible to make the WIAA playoff field.
