The town of St. Joseph Board discussed possible change orders for the current fire hall addition Thursday, Oct. 7, before deciding to continue without any further additions. The board did, however, approve a pay request for $79,194.39. Grading and seeding is continuing on the property, and the final punch list for completion of the project should be finished this week.

On the town hall side, the board has approved the spending of approximately $600 to swap out the two lights in the town hall portion of the building, and replace them with more efficient LED lights that is to be done this year. Other improvements discussed were the purchase of air-conditioning, on which the board has requested more information. In addition, a package for office space proposals and flooring recommendations will be put together for the board.

Dissolution of committees

The possible continuum or dissolution of both the Facilities and Public Works Committees were discussed at Thursday’s board meeting. If either committee were to be dissolved, the plan would bring the responsibilities of each back to the town board. A motion was brought to the board to dissolve the Facilities Committee, however, the vote failed. Further discussion of the subject has been postponed until the November board meeting.

New appointments

  • The board appointed current board member Rick Colbeth, and former member Kevin Moelter to the Park Committee. A motion was brought to the board that Supervisor Rick Colbeth be appointed committee chair, but was voted down. A motion that the Parks Committee choose their own chair, which was seconded by Colbeth, passed.

  • The board appointed Mark Simpson to the Public Works Committee.
