Ethel Evelyn Miller, age 98, of Lakeland, Minn., died on Saturday morning, Oct. 23, 2010, at River Falls Hospital.
She was born the daughter of Rennie and Gertrude (Johnson) Frazier on June 10, 1912, in East Grand Forks, Minn. Ethel married Otto R. Miller and they were blessed with three children, Robert, David and Ruth Ann. Otto preceded her in death in 1968.
Ethel was a very self-sufficient and capable woman. Her baking skills had her busy making wedding cakes, her ability as a seamstress often had her doing alterations, and she was an avid quilter.
In addition to her husband, Ethel was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Miller; grandson, Jeff Brunckhorst; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Miller.
She is survived by her son, David M. (Judy) Miller of Grantsbury, Wis. and Tucson, Ariz.; daughter, Ruth Ann (Don) Brunckhorst of Lakeland; six grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Thron, Susan (Jim) Iverson, Rob (Mona) Miller, Pam Brunckhorst, Gary Brunckhorst, and Greg (Lynn) Brunckhorst; seven great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Ashley and Lauren Thron, Matthew, Jessica and Megan Iverson, and Ally Brunckhorst; great-great-granddaughter, Emma Thron; and extended family.
A funeral service will be held for Ethel at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at St. Croix Valley United Methodist Church, 16600 7th St. (Hwy 95), Lakeland. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Pastor Daren Flinck will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church and from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725.
Memorials are preferred to the church choir.
