Veterans Day program set for Thursday

This year’s Veterans Day program is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 in front of the St. Croix County Government Center commemorating the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month that marked the end of World War I.

Events start with the national anthem by the Hudson High School band followed by an opening prayer from Dave Kvarnes, chaplain of VFW Post 2115.

The HHS band is scheduled to play another selection before Commander Charles Altman, U.S. Navy (Ret.) gives the address.

Hudson elementary school fifth-grade choir will perform, followed by a closing prayer from Kvarnes and a rifle salute from the honor guard of members of Hudson Legion Post 50, and VFW Post 2115.

The ceremony closes with taps performed by trumpeters of the HHS band.

Refreshments follow in the community room in the basement of the government center.

Honor guard members will also attend programs at the Hudson Middle School at 9 a.m. and St. Patrick School at 2:15 p.m.
