Questions police presence

Dear Editor,

And residents of the Town of St. Joseph here we go again with more drama for the town board of St. Joseph.

Last week at the “Public Annual Town Budget Meeting” on Nov. 9, the Town Board asked the sheriff’s department to have a deputy sheriff present at the meeting. Why you may ask would the town board need a sheriff at the meeting?

Because a resident of the town made threatening phone calls to a town board supervisor’s home. The sheriff was called and a complaint was filed.

I hope this is the end of that kind of deplorable behavior. Everyone wants to feel safe and have a great town to live in and be proud of. In the mean time, the new town board supervisors have seen the looming out of control spending for St. Joseph and reduced the new budget for 2011 taking the town back to a fiscally responsible budget. As a resident of St. Joseph, I thank the town board.
