A public hearing was held in the town of St. Joseph Thursday, Dec. 2, to make changes to the verbiage in Chapter 35 of the town code. The code addresses the town Plan Commission to make some items less vague and to update others to be in compliance with new Wisconsin laws and statutes.

One such item that is clarified is the appointment of Plan Commission members and chairperson. Under the revised language, it is made clear that the town chair will appoint members and the chairperson to the Plan Commission, to be ratified by the town board. Along with that, the Plan Commission will consist of a current town board member, either the town chair, or a supervisor designated by the town chair. After the public hearing and a brief discussion, the town board approved the language changes to the chapter.

Snowplowing

“I think the maintenance guys have done a good job this week staying ahead of things,” said Town Chair Theresa Johnson. “It (the weather) has been kind of an ordeal.”

Road condition varied throughout the town during the last storm, and while the roads were ready for the snow, they were not ready for the rain that came afterward.

“I went out and checked the roads, and made a call,” said Johnson. “But the weather changed a half hour later to rain, it’s not a perfect science and we are doing the best we can.”
