Fire chief asks for help digging out hydrants
City workers are busy with street and walkway snow removal and won’t have time to immediately uncover all the fire hydrants, according to Chief Jim Frye.
Hudson Fire Chief Jim Frye is asking for the public’s help in digging out fire hydrants buried in snow.
People with a fire hydrant in front of their residence are being asked to shovel the snow from on top and around it.
Frye said city workers are busy with street and walkway snow removal and won’t have time to immediately uncover all the hydrants.
Snow-covered hydrants can greatly delay fire-fighting efforts, Frye said, noting a recent fire in the Twin Cities where that was the case.
