Playful Art, a class for children ages 2 ½ through 4 with an adult, will be offered on Mondays, March 21 and 28, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at The Phipps Center for the Arts. This class is being offered in partnership with Messes & Masterpieces, a nonprofit educational organization based in New Richmond that holds creative classes and events for children and adults.

In this class, students will explore a variety of art materials and make many creative art projects. This structured class offers children the opportunity to use small and gross motor skills, explore textures, and try new techniques. The adults’ role is to enjoy the creativity of the children and to assist them when necessary.

Instructor Christine Melby is the founder and director of Messes & Masterpieces. She has a B.F.A. from the College of Visual Arts and has taught creative classes for over six years. Her work is constantly evolving, yet she is particularly fond of book-making, felting, collage, and finding artistic uses for recycled materials. Melby has a passion for leading community art projects where she witnesses joy in the process of creating together.

The fee for this class is $29. To enroll, call (715) 386-2305 or go to www.ThePhipps.org.
