The cost of winter maintenance and snowplowing in the town of St. Joseph has now exceeded $80,000. That information was presented at the town board meeting Thursday, Feb. 3. The cost is higher than anticipated due to the exceptionally snowy winter. This cost may continue to increase if further inclement weather is experienced.
In addition to the cost of winter maintenance, the board discussed the budget for 2011 construction projects and maintenance work. According to the board, the funding that appears to be available for the projects is $145,000. Crack and seal-coating project pricing was not available at the meeting, but will be provided for the regularly scheduled March meeting to go to bid.
St. Croix River Bridge
The board unanimously voted to support of St. Croix River Crossing resolution. In an effort to stem a potential closure of the current lift bridge, an idea that has been floated among government leaders in Stillwater, the town board also agreed to send a letter to oppose the idea of closure of the bridge.
