Last weekend during the Midwest Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association divisional event at Afton Alps, Max Lund, son of Gail and Jay Lund, won both the giant slalom and slalom races.

Eighty-four college men from eleven schools competed in the divisional event.

Lund, skiing for St. Olaf, had a combined time from two giant slalom runs of 47.12 seconds which earned him first place. Second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth place were all won by fellow team members from St. Olaf.

In the slalom, Lund won by nearly two full seconds with a combined score for two runs of 56.77 seconds. Second place went to fellow St. Olaf team mate, Paal Proitz whose time was 58.58.

Overall the St. Olaf Alpine Ski team won the divisional event with University of Minnesota Duluth coming in second.

The winners move on to Marquette, Mich., this weekend for the regional competition. Finalists there will move on to the national competition in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Lund is the grandson of Warren Pagel, who is the father of Gail Lund. Gail was a fierce competitor on the collegiate skiing circuit while she was in college as well.
