Deadline nears for garden grant
The St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners Association (SCVMGA) invites individuals or organizations to apply for a grant to help educate, beautify or serve the community in 2011.
The St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners Association (SCVMGA) invites individuals or organizations to apply for a grant to help educate, beautify or serve the community in 2011.
This year a total of $3,500 will be awarded with an individual maximum grant of $250. The requirements designate that the projects benefit a nonprofit or community service based organization and serve one or more of the following purposes:
--Community or civic beautification, such as parks, schools, or public spaces;
--Gardening for area food projects;
--Educational projects involving horticulture; and
--Environmental stewardship, e.g. prairie restoration.
Organizations within St. Croix and Pierce Counties are eligible to apply. Grant proposals must be submitted (by mail or e-mail) on the SCVMGA Grant Application and returned by March 12. Grant recipients must submit a final report of their project by Oct. 1.
