Supports Joan Gerhan

Dear Editor,

On April 5 the residents of the town of St. Joseph have an opportunity to vote to fill several positions in our town government. I encourage voters to vote for Joan Gerhan for the position of town clerk/treasurer.

This is a job with considerable responsibilities dealing with many aspects of town government — property assessments, tax rolls, elections, licenses, public notifications, dealing with town, county and state laws, meeting attendance for note taking and reporting as well as bookkeeping and preparing reports on finances and a great deal more.

I have known Joan Gerhan for about 40 years. She has a multi-faceted background with a 30-year work/education history that includes co-ownership/operation of a sales, maintenance and flight school facility, associate engineering certification qualifying her to work with engineers, a work history in quality control and customer service, a position with Bendix for the U.S. Dept. of Energy as well as the administrative services division, assets management branch in inventory control for a four-state area for state and federal agencies. She is trained in Quick Books Accounting and Financial Software.

Joan is currently a member of the St. Joseph Town Parks Committee. She has regularly attended the town meetings for the past two years. She is also a member and past officer of a Hudson community organization. Joan is a hard working, organized, multi-talented individual with strong leadership abilities. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a project she tackled that she wasn’t successful in completing. She is a person driven to always do the right thing to benefit the good of the town and I have seen her stand up to a lot of flack for not backing down.

I encourage the residents to join me on April 5 to elect Joan Gerhan to the position of St. Joseph Township Clerk/Treasurer.
