Sandbagging begins on South Front Street in Hudson
People 18 and older who are willing to help and able to lift 35- to 40-pound sandbags should meet in the River City Center parking lot at the corner of Second and Buckeye streets at 1 p.m. Friday.
Volunteers on Thursday afternoon began building sandbag dikes to protect three houses on South Front Street from the rising waters of the St. Croix River.
Additional volunteers are needed for a Friday afternoon shift. People 18 and older who are willing to help and able to lift 35- to 40-pound sandbags should meet in the River City Center parking lot at the corner of Second and Buckeye streets at 1 p.m. today (Friday).
Volunteers will be chauffeured to the work site, and shouldn’t try to drive there. The narrow South Front Street doesn’t have a turn-around or places to park.
