Discuss use of baseball and softball fields at St. Joseph Board meeting

Incoming town of St. Joseph Chair Dan Gavin discussed at the town board meeting Thursday, April 7 with the town board, the agreements for usage of the local baseball/softball field. No changes were made.

The town currently has agreements with the Hudson Boosters, 4-H and a women’s softball team among others. Currently, the field is open to the public until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and Sundays, and after noon on Saturdays. If residents would like to reserve the field for private use they can make the reservations at the Town Hall. No changes were made.

Election Results

The face of the St. Joseph Town Board will be changing starting in May after the April 5 vote.

While incumbent 2nd Supervisor Jim Traeger edged out Fred Meyers by a mere seven votes (465-458) to retain his seat, and incumbent 4th Supervisor Rick Colbeth ran unopposed, the position of town chair changed hands.

Former 1st Supervisor Dan Gavin, and current 1st Supervisor Kevin Adkins were on the ballot for chair. Incumbent Theresa Johnson did not run. After the vote, Gavin defeated Adkins 655-318.

Position of town clerk and treasurer has also changed. Current Clerk/Treasurer Marie Schmidt did not run for re-election. The position will go to Mary Stanley after she defeated Joan Gerhan (638-297).
