Sustain Hudson has art fest
Sustain Hudson is sponsoring an Earth Day Art Festival. Art from various schools will be displayed in Hudson businesses in time for Earth Day, April 22.
Sustain Hudson is sponsoring an Earth Day Art Festival. Art from various schools will be displayed in Hudson businesses in time for Earth Day, April 22.
The event is expected to involve students from grades kindergarten through 12th grade. In some cases, local business owners may provide coupons back to the class students, and encourage the students and their families to visit the business to view the art.
Sustain Hudson, Inc. promotes the grassroots engagement of community members in understanding the issues of sustainable development outlined in The Natural Step for Communities. The local organization envisions a vibrant environment, society and economy by advocating the adoption of the principles of sustainable community development to local citizens, businesses and organizational leaders and policymakers.
The student art project has the following objectives:
--Promote community well-being and sense of community;
--Promote students’ artistic accomplishments in the community;
--Promote local businesses with youth and their families;
--Promote sustainability principles with both youth and business owners;
--Promote Earth Day; and
--Promote civic minded activity with high school young adults.
Participating businesses include: US Post Office, Angel's Pet World*, YMCA*, The River Bank, Family Fresh*, Wendy's, Fresh n Natural, NOVA*, Carbone’s*, SubHouse*, Dairy Queen*, Stone Cold Creamery*, RJ’s Meats, The Purple Tree, Knoke’s*, Ala Mode*, Buffalo Wild Wings, Key’s Café*, Hudson Bagel* and Art Doyle Spokes and Pedals*.
*Businesses providing students with coupons/promotions.
