The Hudson Board of Education approved staff cuts for the coming school year at a special meeting Tuesday night.

Eight certified positions including seven teachers and one counselor that account for six full-time jobs are on the preliminary list of staff cuts. According to Director of Personnel Nancy Sweet, only four individuals will be impacted because of attrition including retirements and resignation.

Also on the preliminary list are a total of 32 individuals in non-certified positions who will be impacted with the elimination or reduction of 34 their jobs. These positions include education assistants in math, reading, school libraries and special education made up of education assistants. The list also includes a campus monitor, custodians and an in-school suspension assistant.

Sweet said of the 32 individuals affected, 10 are facing a complete elimination of their employment with 22 getting a partial reduction in hours.

All affected employees have been informed. A final decision by the district on layoffs and staffing is expected in June.
