Corrected: Raider golfers sectional champs

The Hudson boys’ golf team finished 13 strokes better than second place Superior to win the WIAA Division 1 sectional at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau Tuesday afternoon and advance to next week’s WIAA State Tournament.

The Hudson boys’ golf team finished 13 strokes better than second place Superior to win the WIAA Division 1 sectional at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau Tuesday afternoon, May 31, and advance to next week’s WIAA State Tournament.

The Raiders finished with a total team score of 323. Superior, who took second with 336, also earned a berth at state.

Matt Grayes took second individually with a team-leading score of 79 while Luke Burbach finished with 80, Jack Holland 81 and Jeremy Salentine 83 to account for the Raiders’ team total. Ben Lewis came in with 94.

Eau Claire North took third with 339 fllowed by Rhinelander with 3341, D.C. Everest with 346, River Falls with 350, Wausau East with 353 and Antigo with 354.

Last week Hudson won the regional title on its home course with a total score of 320 to advance to Tuesday’s sectional.

Burbach shared regional medalist honors with River Falls’ Garrett Loomis, each with rounds of 74. Lewis had a 79 and Salentine finished with 83 while Grayes and Holland each finished with 84.

The WIAA State Golf Tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, June 6-7, at University Ridge in Madison.
