Josh Wohlers, HHS alumnus, graduates from West Point

Joshua D. Wohlers graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., May 21 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army.

Joshua D. Wohlers graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., May 21 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army.

Wohlers, the son of John Wohlers, Hudson, and Michele Steffl, is a 2006 graduate of Hudson High School. He majored in environmental geography at West Point and graduated with honors.

His father, John Wohlers, who served in the Minnesota National Guard and is a volunteer fireman in Hudson, and grandfather, Roger Wohlers, Stillwater, a retired Minnesota National Guard Lt. Colonel, attended the graduation ceremonies and pinned Josh’s lieutenant bars on his dress blue uniform.

First Lady Michelle Obama was the guest speaker at a banquet the night prior to graduation ceremonies. Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was the commencement speaker.

Josh will attend officer training school at Fort Sill, Okla., and his first duty station will be Fort Riley, Kan., in the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One).

West Point is a four-year co-educational federal undergraduate liberal arts college located 50 miles north of New York City.
