Hudson golfers take 4th at state
The Raider boys’ golf team moved up three spots on the second day of the WIAA Division 1 State Golf Tournament in Madison Tuesday to finish fourth in the 16-team field. Four of the five Raider golfers lowered their scores Tuesday to help the Raiders cut 12 strokes off their first day total and post a team total of 314. The Raider boys’ golf team moved up three spots on the second day of the WIAA Division 1 State Golf Tournament in Madison Tuesday to finish fourth in the 16-team field.
Four of the five Raider golfers lowered their scores Tuesday to help the Raiders cut 12 strokes off their first day total and post a team total of 314. The team was in seventh place after Monday’s first round after coming in at 326.
Luke Burbach, who was tied for 24th place after Monday’s opening round with a score of 79, fired a 78 Tuesday to move into a tie for 17th place with a two-day total of 157.
Jeremy Salentine trimmed four strokes off his score of 81 Monday to shoot a team-low 77 on Tuesday and finish in a tie for 24th place with a two-day score of 158.
Ben Lewis shot scores of 81 and 79 to finish the tournament at 160 while Jack Holland cut ten strokes off Monday’s opening round, finishing with a two day total of 90-80-170. Matt Grayes came in with scores of 85 and 89 to post a total of 174.
Middleton won the sate team title with a score of 608 while Arrowhead was second with 618. Marquette finished third with 629 and Hudson was fourth with 640, two strokes better than fifth place Fond du Lac.
The Raiders advanced to the state tourney by winning last Tuesday’s sectional by 13 strokes at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau.
The Raiders finished with a total team score of 323. Superior took second with 336.
Grayes was sectional runner-up with a team-leading score of 79 while Burbach finished with 80, Holland 81 and Salentine 83 to account for the Raiders’ team total. Lewis came in with 94.
Eau Claire North took third at the sectional with 339 followed by Rhinelander with 3341, D.C. Everest with 346, River Falls with 350, Wausau East with 353 and Antigo with 354.
