Members of the Pioneer Grove German Settlement area near County U and N east of Hudson will be hosting
Members of the Pioneer Grove German Settlement area near County U and N east of Hudson will be hosting an anniversary event on June 12 honoring the German settlers of the area. German immigrants settled near Hudson 160 years ago and many of their descendents still live in the area.
The gathering begins at 4 p.m. with games, a petting zoo, hikes to the Pioneer Grove and other activities. Brick oven bread and pizza will be offered as well as assorted rhubarb desserts and ethnic delicacies baked in the brick oven located at 837 County N.
A musical production, “From Hunsfeld to Hudson” will be performed at 5:30 p.m. The untold love story depicts the history of the families of the area.
The event is free with donations welcome to assist in development of the German Settlement Pioneer Grove.
A barn dance will be held at the Mike Ganz barn, 565 County U, in October.
