Senior co-captain Paige Ommen leads a group of four Raiders named to 2011 All-Big Rivers Conference Girls’ Soccer Teams by the conference coaches.

Ommen, a midfielder, was named to the All-BRC First Team as well as being named the BRC Player of the Year for her play with the Raiders this season.

In addition, senior co-captain Ashley Johnson was named to the All-BRC Second Team while senior defender Logan Knobel and sophomore defender Alyssa Muller received Honorable Mention.

The Raiders finished the season with a record of 5-6-1 in BRC play, 10-7-1 overall. They won eight of their last 11 games, including four in a row, before falling to state-bound and undefeated River Falls in a WIAA regional final.

Ommen played a key role in the Raiders’ success this season, leading the team in scoring with eight goals while covering the entire field from her midfield position.

Co-captain and classmate Johnson played alongside Ommen in the Raider midfield and finished the season with three goals and one assist to earn a spot on the All-BRC Second Team.

Knobel and Muller anchored a Raider defense that helped senior goalkeeper Tessa Bakken record eight shutouts, and were recognized for their work by being named Honorable Mention.

Five of the Raiders’ eight graduating seniors plan on playing soccer in college while the team returns over half if its starting lineup next year, including Muller on defense and forwards Alyssa Claflin, Haley Bouzard and Nadja Mataya. Claflin was second on the team in scoring this season with five goals and one assist while Bouzard had three goals and two assists and Mataya contributed two goals and one assist.
