HASA swims at Anoka

The Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) participated in a swim meet in Anoka, Minn., July 9-10, sending 21 swimmers to compete during the two-day meet.

HASA swimmers present were Grace Johnson, Grace Schmidt, Jasmine White, Adam Berdusco, Alex Weaver, Cale Blinkman, Shane Blinkman, Madalyn Stickler, Sydney Glampe, Rachel Baker, Samantha Troyer, Maya Getschel, Maria Blinkman, Cole Groehler, Jacob Miller, Matt Baker, Nicole Berdusco, Kelly Waid, Emylia Stickler, Gabrielle Blair and Evan Groehler.

Troyer competed in four individual events in the women’s 9-10 age group and had personal best times in each event. Weaver competed in the men’s 9-10 age group and earned seven personal best times.

Top placing swimmers for HASA included Adam Berdusco, age 8, with a first place in the 50 breaststroke, second places in the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 100 freestyle and 100 individual medley (IM), and a third place in the 50 freestyle.

Johnson, age 8, placed first in both the 100 freestyle and the 100 IM, and Baker, age 10, had a pair of second places, in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, while Cale Blinkman, age 10, took seven first places — in the 100 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 backstroke, 100 freestyle, and 100 breaststroke. He also had a second place in the 50 freestyle.

Shane Blinkman, age 10, competed in the 11/12 age group and took first place in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, second in the 100 butterfly, 200 IM, 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly, and third in the 50 breaststroke and 200 freestyle. Maria Blinkman, age 12, took first in the 100 freestyle, second in the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle, and third in the 200 freestyle, 50 butterfly, and 500 freestyle.

Nicole Berdusco, age 13, took first place in the 200 butterfly and third place in the 100 butterfly.

This weekend HASA will be competing in a finals meet in Winona, in preparation for the upcoming Minnesota State Championship meet and the National Meet in early August. For more information on HASA, visit www.hudsonswimteam.org.
