Reverend Myra Carroll Pezzella, 63

Reverend Myra Carroll Pezzella was called to her eternal rest on Sept. 4, 2011, at Buffalo Hospital. She was 63 years old.

Reverend Myra A. Carroll Pezzella was born on April 5, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Halsted and Elaine (Lilly) Carroll. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1966. While in high school she was involved in Job's Daughters and was Honored Queen.

After high school Myra married Bruce Sherman on June 10, 1967, at Grace Presbyterian Church of Minneapolis. Myra and Bruce had two sons, David and Jonathan. Bruce passed away on May 15, 1981.

On Oct. 2, 1982, Myra Married Alfred Pezzella at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.

God called Myra into the ministry. She first attended Macalister College in St. Paul (where she met Al), graduating in1981, and went on to United Theological Seminary graduating May 10, 1985. She was ordained at Westminster on Sept. 15, 1985.

Myra served as chaplain first at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Presbyterian Homes of Minnesota. She went on to serve as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hudson, Wis., for 5 years and for the past 7 years has been the pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Howard Lake.

Myra loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred; mother, Elaine Carroll; son David Sherman with his wife, Sandra; son Jonathan Sherman; grandchildren Madison Joshua and Elsa Sherman; grandchildren Ryan and Jonathan Bailey; and brothers, Joe and Tim Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her father, Halsted Carroll.
