Swimmers drop dual at Eau Claire Memorial

The Raider girls’ swimming and diving team posted five first place finishes, including a season-best score in diving by Amanda Baker, but the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes held off Hudson for a 116-70 victory last Thursday in Eau Claire.

The Raider girls’ swimming and diving team posted five first place finishes, including a season-best score in diving by Amanda Baker, but the Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes held off Hudson for a 116-70 victory last Thursday in Eau Claire.

Baker’s score of 211.25 was her best of the season and good enough to take first place by nearly ten points over Eau Claire Memorial’s Kendra Morgan.

Devin Cicha and Erika Guenther each won a pair of events for the Raiders.

Cicha took first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 59.21 seconds and won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.37, while Guenther added first place times of 1:01.99 in the 100 butterfly and 2:15.55 in the 200 individual medley.

The team of Cicha, Megan Haney, Guenther and Catie Weese took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.55, while Guenther, Abby Duerst, Weese and Cicha placed second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:52.53.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Haney, Lorelle Kiecker, Duerst and Natalie Wood finished third in 1:51.84.

Haney had the Raiders’ best time in the 50 freestyle, taking second in 27.0 seconds, and the 100 breaststroke, finishing fourth in 1:16.67. Lindsey Bedford took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:43.61, while Weese added a third place time of 1:00.81 in the 100 freestyle.

The Raiders will host Menomonie this Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school pool.
