Town residents drop court action

A group of homeowners in the town of Hudson has dropped a court action asking a judge to block a town board decision allowing stadium lights and amplified sound systems on athletic fields.

St. Croix County Circuit Judge Edward Vlack dismissed the case last Friday.

Town Chairman Jeff Johnson said the dismissal followed the town board’s action in August to rescind a previous amendment to the zoning code allowing lights and sound systems by special exception.

Johnson said he had expected the suit to be dropped earlier, but the homeowners had some remaining concerns.

The town board earlier had voted 3-2 to allow lights and sound systems by special exception so the Hudson Boosters could build a tournament ball park on Hwy. 12.

The Boosters have since withdrawn their request for lights and a sound system at the complex.
