For the second time in two years, a group of science students from the Hudson Middle School have been recognized by NASA for their inventive and creative solution to water purification.
While impressed by last year’s second place finish in the nationwide NASA challenge, this year’s all-female team went one better and earned first place honors for their solution to how to recycle and purify water on the moon.
All students of HMS teacher Chris Deleon, the team included eighth-graders Katelyn Asmus, Brianna Haag, Amy Larsen, Julia Van Allen and Maeve Whalen.
As the winners of the challenge, the team not only got gift cards of $100 each but also $500 for the school and earned a four-day trip and the presidential tour of NASA and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida in June.
