Luke Bekemeyer, a student at River Crest Elementary, competed in the Elementary Division of the 2011 West Central Area Land & Water Conservation Association Speaking Contest on Wednesday, Oct 19.
He competed against eight students from surrounding counties and took second place with his speech “Let’s Beat Soil Erosion.” Bekemeyer had won first place at the county contest sponsored by the St. Croix County Land & Water Conservation Committee & Department. That round was held Oct. 12 in Baldwin and featured 11 county contestants, including Lily Trainer and Anna Veenendall from River Crest Elementary.
