Bublitz resigns as boys’ soccer coach

Hudson boys’ soccer coach Chuck Bublitz announced last Friday he has resigned after six years with the Raider program.

In an e-mail statement sent Friday, Nov. 11, Bublitz cited family and school as factors in his decision.

“The decision to resign was one reached after much discussion with my family that I did not reach lightly,” he wrote. “I have always emphasized to our players that family and school come before soccer and, in order to live those priorities myself, I need to step away from coaching soccer at this time in my life.”

Hudson athletic director Stephanie Devos thanked Bublitz for his contributions to the program.

“Coach Bublitz will be sorely missed,” DeVos said. “He is truly a positive role model for young people. He upheld and supported the mission and philosophy of Raider athletics. His commitment to the program, year-round, is commendable.”

Bublitz served three years as an assistant coach and the last three years as head coach of the Raiders. The team won a WIAA regional championship this past season and reached the WIAA sectional semifinal game.

Bublitz said the last six years have been extremely rewarding to him.

“I would like to thank all the players in the Raider program for their hard work and dedication,” he wrote. “I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with you all.”

Bublitz also thanked DeVos and the staff at the Hudson athletic office as well as the Sidekicks booster club and its volunteers.

“Our players are so lucky to have such passionate, selfless adults willing to give their time to making the soccer experience wonderful for the boys and girls at Hudson High School,” he wrote. I am excited to cheer the boys on next fall as a fan.”

DeVos said a search for Bublitz’s replacement would begin as soon as possible.
