The Raider girls’ hockey team came out on the short end of a defensive battle in its home opener last Tuesday, Dec. 6, against the Marshfield Co-op Tigers.

The Raider defense and sophomore goalie Nali Mullan held their ground against the Tigers, until the Tigers’ Paige Johnson scored the only tally of the game on a power play goal with just over a minute left in the second period.

The Raiders outshot the Tigers in the third period, but were unable to connect on any of the scoring attempts and Marshfield headed home with a 1-0 victory.

Mullan ended the game with 21 saves for Hudson.

The Raiders, now 1-1 on the season, hosted New Richmond this past Tuesday, Dec. 13, before playing two road games heading into the holidays. First up is a 7:30 p.m. match on Monday, Dec. 19, in Oakdale, Minn. against Tartan. The Raiders then head north to Grantsburg to take on the Blizzard Co-op team at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22.
