Drawing and oil painting classes for adults of all skill levels will be offered on four Saturdays, from Feb. 4 through 25 at The Phipps Center for the Arts.
The drawing class will deal specifically with understanding the four principles of drawing: proportions, angles, plumb lines, and positive/negative space. Basic instruction in perspective also will be covered. Fun, insightful drawing exercises will provide the student with the knowledge and skill to draw any subject. This class is for new and returning students working at all levels. The class will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon and the fee of $119 includes all materials and supplies.
Oil painting, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., is for new and returning students working at all levels. Following the instructor’s step-by-step process, students will be amazed at what they accomplish. This fun class is an introduction to brush, canvas, and paint, while learning basic and essential painting techniques. Most of all, this class is a confidence-building experience. Included in the class fee of $139 are all materials and supplies, except paper towels and two jars with lids, which students must bring to class.
