ORDINANCE NO. 01-2012
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE FOR THE VILLAGE OF NORTH HUDSON, WISCONSIN
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Village of North Hudson wishes to amend Chapter 10 Animals, Article I. In General, Section 10-10 Licensing. and Section 10-12 Tag and collar., of the Village of North Hudson Municipal Code. (Deleted language is struck through, created language is underlined.)
NOW THEREFORE, the Board of Trustees of the Village of North Hudson does ordain as follows:
Sec. 10-10. - Licensing.
(a) No person shall own, keep or harbor within the village any dog or cat more than five months of age unless such dog or cat is licensed as provided in this section. Written application for such license shall be made to the treasurer and shall state the name and address of the owner and the name, breed, color and sex of the dog or cat. The applicant shall also furnish proof of rabies vaccination within the past 24 months pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 95.21(2)(a) for cats and dogs. No license shall be issued without proof of rabies vaccination. The license fee (see Wis. Stats. §§ 174.05—174.10 and chapter 62 of this Code) shall be paid when making application and a numbered receipt given to the applicant. A numbered metallic tag shall also be issued to the owner of any licensed dog or cat upon payment of the license fee.
(b) The annual license fee for dogs shall be as stated in chapter 62
(c) The annual license fee for cats shall be as stated in chapter 62
(d) The full license fee shall be paid for any dog or cat more than five months of age on or before July 1 of the license year. Half of the license fee shall be paid if the dog or cat becomes five months of age after July 1 of the license year. The license shall be applied for and the license fee paid on or before the date the dog or cat becomes five months of age, or within 30 days after a dog or cat more than five months of age is brought into and kept within the village, except as provided in section 10-11
(e) A late fee, as stated in chapter 62, shall be collected if the owner failed to obtain a license prior to April 1 of each year, or within 30 days of acquiring ownership of a licensable dog or cat, or if the owner failed to obtain a license on or before the dog or cat reached licensable age.
(f) The license year shall be the calendar year from January 1 through December 31, and all dog and cat licenses shall be issued for the calendar year or part remaining at the time of issuance.
(g) If a metallic license tag issued for a dog or cat shall be lost, the owner may obtain a new tag upon the payment of a replacement fee, as stated in chapter 62
(h) If there is a change in ownership of a dog or cat during the license year, the new owner may have the license transferred to his name upon the payment of a license transfer fee, as stated in chapter 62
(i) No person shall use for any dog or cat a license receipt or license tag issued for another dog or cat.
Sec. 10-12. - Tag and collar.
(a) Upon complying with section 10-10, there shall be issued to the owner of any licensed dog or cat a numbered metallic tag stamped with a license number and year for which issued.
(b) Every owner is required to see that the tag is securely fastened to the dog's or cat’s choke chain, collar or harness which shall be worn by the animal at all times when off the premises.
