Hockey: Boys skate to rout over Eau Claire North

The Raider boys’ hockey team jumped out to a 6-0 first period lead and added five more goals over the final two periods to post an 11-0 Big Rivers Conference victory over the Huskies of Eau Claire North.

The Raider boys’ hockey team scored early and often at Hobbs Ice Arena in Eau Claire last Thursday, Jan. 5.

Hudson jumped out to a 6-0 first period lead and added five more goals over the final two periods to post an 11-0 Big Rivers Conference victory over the Huskies of Eau Claire North.

The victory gave Hudson a record of 3-2-0 in BRC play, 5-5-1 overall, heading into this past Tuesday’s (Jan. 10) game against Chippewa Falls and Saturday’s home contest (Jan. 14) against third-ranked Superior (6-1-1).

Last Thursday, James Fall had three goals and two assists, Dylan Haskins added two goals and one assist, and AJ Romanoski scored two goals as the Raiders dropped the Huskies to 0-5 in BRC play, 1-11-1 overall.

The Raiders dominated from the start, outshooting the Huskies 27-2 in the first period while getting two goals apiece from Fall and Haskins and one each from Romanoski and Greg Berg to take a 6-0 lead.

Fall finished off his hat trick early in the second period and Ben Lewis scored a power play goal to make it an 8-0 game. Daniel Tripicchio, Emerson Korum and Romanoski found the net in the third period to make the final 11-0.

Lawrence Pruitt picked up four assists in the victory while Berg, Tripicchio and Taylor Casey earned one apiece. Hudson goaltender Matt Strachota needed just four saves to pick up the shutout as Hudson outshot the Huskies 60-4 while playing penalty-free hockey.

This Saturday’s nonconference game against Superior gets underway at 1 p.m. at Gornick Arena.
