'ComedySportz' headlining upcoming Hudson Rotary gala

Gala set for Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Hudson Golf Club

Tickets are now on sale for Hudson Rotary's most important fundraiser of the year. The 30th annual Hudson Rotary's Golden Opportunity Gala begins at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Hudson Golf Club, 201 Carmichael Road.

The event usually draws about 200 people.

The evening includes hot appetizers, a four-course dinner with assorted desserts, and entertainment by ComedySportz, a Minneapolis "interactive improv" theatre group that promises "light-hearted insanity that appeals to people from every walk of life. We provide clean entertainment that is guaranteed to please even the toughest crowd."

A silent auction will include items like tickets to the Minnesota Wild, artwork, and certificates for local restaurants and spas. Three larger items -- including a week at a Keystone, Col., condominium -- will be sold during a brief live auction. Three raffle winners will take home a "Wall of Wine", each consisting of several dozen bottles donated by Rotarians.

Another feature is the "Champagne & Diamonds" raffle. Participants purchase a champagne glass -- each containing either a cubic zirconia or a real half-carat diamond. The diamond will be a special design created by Diamond Designs by Bodis, a well-known Rice Lake designer of custom jewelry.

Proceeds from the gala are shared by Hudson's Daybreak and Noon Rotary clubs and are used entirely to benefit local youth organizations and community causes.

Tickets are $75 each.
