The Hudson Boosters Fastpitch Softball Program will sponsor a free coaches and youth softball clinic put on by Macalester College Head Softball Coach Jody Gabriel and University of River Falls Assistant Softball Coach Pam Latterell on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Willow River Elementary gym. Scheduled times are 4 p.m. for coaches and 5:15 p.m. for players.
The Boosters encourage all players and coaches to attend this clinic. All Booster softball coaches are asked to stay and assist with the youth clinic. The Hudson Boosters are covering the entire cost of this clinic. The doors will open at 3:45 p.m. The girls should bring their gloves and bats if possible.
The Hudson Boosters’ Girls Fastpitch program is sponsoring pre-season Sunday clinics starting Feb. 19. This year the clinics will be held entirely at Willow River and are being expanded to include seven- and eight-year-old girls who play in Booster machine pitch leagues. These clinics are geared for all girls from seven to 18 years old.
The dates of the clinics are Sundays, Feb. 19, 26, March 4, 11 and Sunday, April 1. Times are 4-5:15 p.m., seven to 10-year-olds; 5:30-6:30 p.m., pitchers and catchers, all ages; 6:30-8 p.m., 11-14-year-olds or any older girl who wants to improve their game;
These clinics will be beneficial for all girls, including those experiencing pitching for the first time, girls from our Recreational Program/Recreational Tournament Teams and girls considering trying out for the Booster’s Competitive Program. All girls interested in learning more about softball should attend.
The cost is $5 per Sunday for the Willow River sessions and an additional $5 for anyone attending the pitching instruction. Pitchers must supply their own catchers. This is open to for all pitchers and catchers from 9-18. Catchers will not be charged for extra sessions. The fees will be used to cover the cost of the gym rental and to pay the hired pitching coaches.
Each girl along with a parent or guardian will be required to sign an injury waiver.
