Swim and dive team ready for BRC meet

Charlie Skinner and Willie Skinner each won one event and helped the Raiders’ 400 freestyle relay to a victory in the final event of the night but the Hudson boys’ swim and dive team came out on the short end of a 92-78 decision in a Big Rivers Conference dual meet at the middle school pool last Thursday, Jan. 26.

Saturday, Jan. 28, the Raiders had two of the top five finishers in five different events, including three victories, at the Buffalo (Minn.) Border Battle.

Up next for the team is the Big Rivers Conference meet this Saturday, Feb. 4, at Eau Claire Memorial.

Last Thursday against Chippewa Falls, Charlie Skinner won the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 2.76 seconds and Willie Skinner took first in the 100 freestyle in 51.2 seconds. The pair also teamed up with August Jorgensen and Lucas Rukavina for a first place time of 3:24.53 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Miles Townsend, Ross Wusterbarth, Ty Davis and Jorgensen opened the meet by combining for a second place time of 1:51.16 in the 200 medley relay.

Willie Skinner added a second place time of 23.18 in the 50 free and Charlie Skinner took second in the 100 butterfly in 52.96 seconds, while Rukavina finished second in both the 200 freestyle, in 1:54.29, and the 500 free, in 5:10.33.

Townsend was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.42, while Wusterbarth was the Raiders’ highest finisher in the 100 breaststroke with a third place time of 1:12.18.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Wusterbarth, Justin Aherns, Jack Boylan and Davis combined for a third place time of 1:47.56.

Saturday at the Buffalo Border Battle, Charlie Skinner won the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.58 seconds and Willie Skinner took first in the 100 freestyle in 51.43 seconds. Jorgensen gave Hudson two of the top three finishers in the 100 free with a third place time of 52.57 seconds while Davis boosted the Raiders’ score in the 100 butterfly with a fifth place time of 1:01.91.

Hudson’s 200 freestyle relay team of Willie Skinner, Jorgensen, Rukavina and Charlie Skinner combined for a first place time of 1:34.07.

Willie Skinner added a second place time of 23.36 seconds in the 50 free while Townsend was fifth in 25.06. In the 500 free, Rukavina placed second in 5:13.58 and Sawyer Arndt was third in 5:18.62, while in the 200 free, Rukavina was second in 1:54.62 and Arndt finished fifth in 1:59.8.

Charlie Skinner contributed a second place time of 2:00.91 in the 200 individual medley while Townsend was fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.52.

In the 400 freestyle relay, Willie Skinner, Jorgensen, Rukavina and Charlie Skinner took second in 3:24.94, while in the 200 medley relay, Townsend, Wusterbarth, Davis and Jorgensen were third in 1:52.21.

Hunter Frey was Hudson’s top finisher in diving with a seventh place score of 254.85.
