The following classes and support groups are offered in partnership between Hudson Hospital & Clinics

The following classes and support groups are offered in partnership between Hudson Hospital & Clinics and various community organizations. Check out www.hudsonhospital.org or call the numbers listed below for meeting schedule, location and topics.

--Childbirth Weekend Express Class offered Friday, Feb. 17, 6:30-9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 18, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Class registration fee is $125 (includes class materials and refreshments) .This two-session class helps parents prepare for childbirth. Class topics include: physical and emotional changes during pregnancy, labor, and childbirth; vaginal and Cesarean birth; birthing techniques; relaxation; comfort and breathing techniques; role of birthing companion; labor pain management options; mother and baby care; unexpected outcomes; working with your medical care staff; and special topics of interest to each individual class series group. This express class offers a condensed format and convenient weekend hours to accommodate busy schedules. The class is presented by two instructors and includes refreshments and a tour of Hudson Hospital Birth Center. To register, contact Paige Lewis at (715) 531-6029.

--American Red Cross Babysitter's Training Course next open class is March 22 and 23 from 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Youth ages 11 to 15 learn child care, first aid, leadership and communication skills. Class size is limited (must attend both days). Registration is $75, and includes materials. Bring a sack lunch. To register, contact Paige Lewis at (715) 531-6029.

--Baby Sign Language class is scheduled on March 26, from 6:30-8 p.m. Join instructor Jenny Lief, MA, CCC, Speech Language Pathologist to learn the benefits and joys of using sign language with preverbal hearing babies. Babies can control their arms and hands before they develop the oral motor skills necessary for speech, so signing allows babies and toddlers to express their thoughts before they can speak. --Infant Massage Class scheduled on April 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m. presented by Tracy Johnson, Certified in Infant and Adult Massage. Whether your baby is newborn or toddler, massage can bring immediate and lasting benefit such as improved sensory awareness, improved digestion and reduced stress caused by gas, teething or colic, as well as a special time for bonding through comforting touch. Class fee is $25 per couple or individual. To register, call (715) 531-6029.

@t:--Heartsaver CPR and AED Classes (for certification) – Wednesday, Feb. 8, 8 a.m. - noon; Tuesday, Feb. 21, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 25, 8 a.m.-noon. $35/person. Learn the basic techniques of adult, child, and infant CPR; first aid for choking; and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Pre-registration is required.

--First Aid Class (for certification) - Saturday, Feb. 18, 8 a.m.- noon. $35/person. Learn basic care for injuries and sudden illness. Meets OSHA guidelines. Pre-registration is required.
