Playful Art, a three-week class for ages 2 ½ to 4 years old with an adult, will be offered Mondays, Feb. 27, March 5 and 12, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts. This structured class offers children the opportunity to use small and gross motor skills, explore textures and try new techniques. The adults’ role is to enjoy the creativity of their little one and to assist when necessary.
Instructor Christine Melby is the founder/director of Messes & Masterpieces, a non-profit educational organization that holds creative classes and events for children and adults. She has a B.F.A. from the College of Visual Arts and has taught creative classes for over six years. Her work is constantly evolving, yet she is particularly fond of book-making, felting, and collage, as well as finding artistic uses for recycled materials. Melby has a passion for leading community art projects where she witnesses joy in the process of creating together.
The class fee is $44. For more information or to enroll, go to http://www.ThePhipps.org, call (715) 386-2305, or stop by the center.
