Brass quintet performs Feb. 19

The Wisconsin Brass Quintet (WBQ) will present a diverse program of original compositions and arrangements from the 18th to 21st century on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Founded in 1972, the WBQ is an ensemble-in-residence at the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Music and includes the talents of John Aley and Douglas Lindsey, trumpets; Daniel Grabois, horn; Mark Hetzler, trombone; and John Stevens, tuba. The quintet has performed throughout the Midwest with additional concerts around the country, including performances at Carnegie Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. “Fabrics,” a CD on the Summit label, features works of Stevens and Reynolds. Another CD, “Images,” on the Mark Records label, also features works by Stevens. Most recently, the quintet released a CD entitled “The Feast Awaits” on the Crystal Records label. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for students of all ages. Discounts are available by purchasing season tickets.
